HEART BURN

 What is heartburn?
Despite its name, heartburn doesn't affect the heart. Heartburn is a burning feeling in the lower chest, along with a sour or bitter taste in the throat and mouth. It usually occurs after eating a big meal or while lying down. The feeling can last for a few minutes or a few hours.
What causes heartburn?

When you eat, food passes from your mouth down a tube (about 10 inches long in most people) called the esophagus. To enter the stomach, the food must pass through an opening between the esophagus and stomach. This opening acts like a gate to allow food to pass into the stomach.

Usually, this opening closes as soon as food passes through. But if it doesn't close all the way, acid from your stomach can get through the opening and into your esophagus. This is called reflux. Stomach acid can irritate the esophagus and cause heartburn.

Hiatal hernia can also cause heartburn. Hiatal hernia is a condition in which part of the stomach is pushed up through the diaphragm (the muscle wall between the stomach and chest) and into the chest. Sometimes this causes heartburn.
What factors add to heartburn?
Many things can make heartburn worse. Heartburn is most common after overeating, when bending over or when lying down. Pregnancy, stress and certain foods can also make heartburn worse. The box below lists other things that can aggravate heartburn symptoms.
Things that can make heartburn worse
Cigarette smoking
Coffee (both regular and decaffeinated) and other drinks that contain caffeine
Alcohol
Carbonated drinks
Citrus fruits
Tomato products
Chocolate, mints or peppermints
Fatty foods or spicy foods (such as pizza, chili and curry)
Onions
Lying down too soon after eating
Being overweight or obese
Aspirin or ibuprofen (one brand name: Motrin)
Certain medicines (such as sedatives and some medicines for high blood pressure)
Can heartburn be serious?
If you only have heartburn now and then, it's probably not serious. However, if you have heartburn frequently, it can lead to esophagitis (an inflamed lining of the esophagus). If esophagitis becomes severe, your esophagus might narrow and you might have bleeding or trouble swallowing.
If you get more than occasional heartburn, it may be a symptom of acid reflux disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), an inflamed stomach lining (gastritis), hiatal hernia or peptic ulcer.

What can I do to feel better?
You might be able to avoid heartburn by making some changes in your lifestyle. The box below lists some tips on how to prevent heartburn.

Tips on preventing heartburn
Try to eat at least 2 to 3 hours before lying down. If you take naps, try sleeping in a chair.
If you smoke, quit.
Lose weight if you're overweight.
Don't overeat.
Eat high-protein, low-fat meals.
Avoid tight clothes and tight belts.
Avoid foods and other things that give you heartburn.
What if my symptoms get worse?
If lifestyle changes and antacids don't help your symptoms, talk with your doctor. Your doctor may want you to take prescription medicine or schedule you for some tests.

Tests might include X-rays to check for ulcers, a pH test to check for acid in the esophagus, or an endoscopy to check for other conditions. During an endoscopy, your doctor looks into your stomach through a long, thin tube which is inserted down your esophagus. Your doctor may also check for H. pylori, bacteria that can cause ulcers.
What about medicines for heartburn?
Several kinds of medicine can be used to treat heartburn. Antacids neutralize the acid that your stomach makes. For most people, antacids that you can get without a prescription (over-the-counter) give fast, short-term relief. However, if you use antacids too much, they can cause diarrhea or constipation. Look for antacids that contain both magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide. (One causes constipation while the other causes diarrhea so they counteract each other.) Some brands of antacids include Maalox, Mylanta and Riopan. Follow the directions on the package.

H2 blockers (some brand names: Pepcid, Tagamet, Zantac) reduce the amount of acid your stomach makes. Several are available without a prescription.
Other medicines, such as omeprazole (brand name: Prilosec) and lansoprazole (brand name: Prevacid), also reduce how much acid the stomach makes. Metoclopramide (brand name: Reglan) reduces acid reflux. To find out what medicine is right for you, talk with your doctor.
Is heartburn associated with heart attacks?
No. But sometimes pain in the chest may be mistaken for heartburn when it's really a sign of heart disease. If you have any of the symptoms in the box below, call your doctor.

Call your doctor if:
You have trouble swallowing or pain when swallowing.
You're vomiting blood.
Your stools are bloody or black.
You're short of breath.
You're dizzy or lightheaded.
You have pain going into your neck and shoulder.
You break out in a sweat when you have pain in your chest.
You have heartburn often (more than 3 times a week) for more than 2 weeks.

What is a hysterectomy?

A hysterectomy (his-tur-EK-tuh-mee) is a surgery to remove a woman's uterus or womb. The uterus is where a baby grows when a woman is pregnant. The whole uterus or just part of it may be removed. After a hysterectomy, you no longer have menstrual periods and cannot become pregnant.

During the hysterectomy, your doctor also may remove your fallopian tubes and ovaries. The ovaries produce eggs and hormones. The fallopian tubes carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus. The cervix is the lower end of the uterus that joins the vagina. These organs are located in a woman’s lower abdomen, as shown in the image below.

If you have not yet reached menopause and:
You keep your ovaries during the hysterectomy, you may enter menopause at an earlier age than most women.

Your ovaries are removed during the hysterectomy, you will enter menopause. You can talk with your doctor about ways to manage menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness.
Female reproductive system

Types of hysterectomy:
Partial, subtotal, or supracervical (soo-pruh-SER-vi-kuhl) removes just the upper part of the uterus. The cervix is left in place.
Total removes the whole uterus and the cervix.
Radical removes the whole uterus, the tissue on both sides of the cervix, and the upper part of the vagina. This is done mostly when there is cancer present.

How is a hysterectomy performed?
There are different ways that your doctor can perform a hysterectomy. It will depend on your health history and the reason for your surgery.

Abdominal hysterectomy. This is done through a 5- to 7-inch incision, or cut, in the lower part of your belly. The cut may go either up and down, or across your belly, just above your pubic hair.

Vaginal hysterectomy. This is done through a cut in the vagina. The doctor will take your uterus out through this incision and close it with stitches.

Laparoscopic (lap-uh-ro-SKOP-ik) hysterectomy. A laparoscope is an instrument with a thin, lighted tube and small camera that allows your doctor to see your pelvic organs. Your doctor will make three to four small cuts in your belly and insert the laparoscope and other instruments. He or she will cut your uterus into smaller pieces and remove them through the incisions.

Laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH). Your doctor will remove your uterus through the vagina. The laparoscope is used to guide the procedure.

Robotic-assisted surgery. Your doctor uses a special machine (robot) to do the surgery through small cuts in your belly, much like a laparoscopic hysterectomy (see above). It is most often done when a patient has cancer or is very overweight and vaginal surgery is not safe.

Why do women have hysterectomies?
Hysterectomy may be needed if you have:
Cancer of the uterus, ovary, cervix, or endometrium (en-doh-MEE-tree-um). Hysterectomy may be the best option if you have cancer in these organs. The endometrium is the tissue that lines the uterus. If you have precancerous changes of the cervix, you might be able to have a loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) to remove the cancerous cells. Other treatment options can include chemotherapy and radiation. Your doctor will talk with you about the type of cancer you have and how advanced it is.

Fibroids. Fibroids are non-cancerous, muscular tumors that grow in the wall of the uterus. Many women with fibroids have only minor symptoms and do not need treatment. Fibroids also often shrink after menopause. In some women, fibroids can cause prolonged heavy bleeding or pain. Fibroids can be treated with medications. There are also procedures to remove the fibroids, such as uterine artery embolization (em-boh-li-ZAE-shuhn), which blocks the blood supply to the tumors. Without blood, the fibroids shrink over time, which can reduce pain and heavy bleeding. Another procedure called myomectomy (my-oh-MEK-tuh-mee) removes the tumors while leaving your uterus intact, but there is a risk that the tumors could come back. If medications or procedures to remove the fibroids have not helped, and a woman is either near or past menopause and does not want children, hysterectomy can cure problems from fibroids.

Endometriosis (en-doh-mee-tree-OH-suhs). This health problem occurs when the tissue that lines the uterus grows outside the uterus on your ovaries, fallopian tubes, or other pelvic or abdominal organs. This can cause severe pain during menstrual periods, chronic pain in the lower back and pelvis, pain during or after sex, bleeding between periods, and other symptoms. You might need a hysterectomy when medications or less invasive surgery to remove the spots of endometriosis have not helped.

Prolapse of the uterus. This is when the uterus slips from its usual place down into the vagina. This can lead to urinary and bowel problems and pelvic pressure. These problems might be helped for a time with an object called a vaginal pessary, which is inserted into the vagina to hold the womb in place.

Adenomyosis (uh-den-oh-my-OH-suhs). In this condition, the tissue that lines the uterus grows inside the walls of the uterus, which can cause severe pain. If other treatments have not helped, a hysterectomy is the only certain cure.

Chronic pelvic pain. Surgery is a last resort for women who have chronic pelvic pain that clearly comes from the uterus. Many forms of pelvic pain are not cured by a hysterectomy, so it could be unnecessary and create new problems.

Abnormal vaginal bleeding. Treatment depends on the cause. Changes in hormone levels, infection, cancer, or fibroids are some things that can cause abnormal bleeding. There are medications that can lighten heavy bleeding, correct irregular bleeding, and relieve pain. These include hormone medications, birth control pills, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs). One procedure for abnormal bleeding is dilatation and curettage (D&C), in which the lining and contents of the uterus are removed. Another procedure, endometrial ablation (en-doh-MEE-tree-uhl a-BLAE-shuhn), also removes the lining of your uterus and can help stop heavy, prolonged bleeding. But, it should not be used if you want to become pregnant or if you have gone through menopause.

Very rarely, hysterectomy is needed to control bleeding during a cesarean delivery following rare pregnancy complications. There are other methods doctors use to control bleeding in most of these cases, but hysterectomy is still needed for some women.

Keep in mind that there may be ways to treat your health problem without having this major surgery. Talk with your doctor about all of your treatment options.

How common are hysterectomies?
A hysterectomy is the second most common surgery among women in the United States. The most common surgery in women is childbirth by cesarean section delivery.

What should I do if I am told that I need a hysterectomy?
Ask about the possible risks of the surgery.
Talk to your doctor about other treatment options. Ask about the risks of those treatments.
Consider getting a second opinion from another doctor.
Keep in mind that every woman is different and every situation is different. A good treatment choice for one woman may not be good for another.

How long does it take to recover from a hysterectomy?
Recovering from a hysterectomy takes time. Most women stay in the hospital from 1 to 2 days for post-surgery care. Some women may stay longer, often when the hysterectomy is done because of cancer.
The time it takes for you to resume normal activities depends on the type of surgery. If you had:
Abdominal surgery. Recovery takes from 4 to 6 weeks. You will gradually be able to increase your activities.
Vaginal or laparoscopic surgery. Recovery takes 3 to 4 weeks.
You should get plenty of rest and not lift heavy objects for a full 6 weeks after surgery. About 6 weeks after either surgery, you should be able to take tub baths and resume sexual intercourse. Research has found that women with a good sex life before hysterectomy can maintain it after the surgery.

What are the risks of having a hysterectomy?
Most women do not have health problems during or after the surgery, but some of the risks of a hysterectomy include:
Injury to nearby organs, such as the bowel, urinary tract, bladder, rectum, or blood vessels
Pain during sexual intercourse
Early menopause, if the ovaries are removed
Anesthesia problems, such as breathing or heart problems
Allergic reactions to medicines
Blood clots in the legs or lungs. These can be fatal.
Infection
Heavy bleeding

Do I still need to have Pap tests after a hysterectomy?
You will still need regular Pap tests to screen for cervical cancer if you had a partial hysterectomy and did not have your cervix removed, or if your hysterectomy was for cancer. Ask your doctor what is best for you and how often you should have Pap tests.

Even if you do not need Pap tests, all women who have had a hysterectomy should have regular pelvic exams and mammograms.

PSORIASIS

PSORIASIS

Psoriasis is one of the most stubborn skin disease. It is a chronic disease, characterised by thick, red, silvery, scaled patches of skin. This disease affects both sexes equally and usually first appears at the age ranging from 15 to 30 years, although it may appear at any age. It is, however, rare in infancy and old age. The disease is not contagious.

Psoriasis SymptomsGenerally, the skin of the person suffering from psoriasis appears red and irritated and may be covered with bright silvery scales. Sometimes, there is also a little itching. Areas usually involved are elbows, knees, the skin behind the ears, trunk, scalp, nails, underarm and genital areas. The lesions vary in size from minute papules, only just visible, to sheets covering large parts of the body. Quite often, they are discs from 1.25 cm. to several cms. in size. The lesions of psoriasis are always dry and rarely become infected. The psoriasis disease develops somewhat slowly, but can occasionally have a sudden onset with hundreds of drop-shaped patches which come and go or may consist of a few patches that remain year after year. When the scales are removed, there are tiny bleeding points beneath the scales, which tend to attach more firmly in the centre than around the edges of the spots.

Psoriasis CausesRecent studies have shown that psoriasis involves an abnormality in the mechanism in which the skin grows and replaces itself. This abnormality is related to the metabolism of amino-acids, the protein chemicals, which are nature’s basic building blocks for the reproduction of cell tissues. Some authorities also believe that this disease is caused by lack of essential fatty acids. Heredity also plays a role in the development of psoriasis. The factors that aggravate and precipitate the out break of this disease are injury to skin, changes in the seasons, stress, infections and use of certain drugs for the treatment of other diseases.

Psoriasis TreatmentSince psoriasis is a metabolic disease, a fast for cleansing of about five days is always desirable in the beginning of the treatment. Carrots, beets, cucumbers and grapes may be used for juices. Juices of citrus fruits should be avoided. The warm water enema should be used daily to cleanse the bowels during the fast. After the juice fast, the patient should adopt the diet of three basic food groups namely seeds, nuts, and grains, vegetables and fruits, with emphasis or raw seeds and nuts, especially sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and plenty of organically grown raw vegetables and fruits.

All animal fats, including milk, butter and eggs should be avoided. Refined or processed foods and foods containing hydrogenated fats or white sugar, all condiments, tea and coffee should also be avoided. After noticeable improvement, goat’s milk, yogurt and home-made cottage cheese may be added to the diet. The juice fast may be repeated after four weeks on diet.

Too frequent baths should be avoided. Soap should not be used. Regular sea-water baths and application of sea water externally over the affected parts once a day are beneficial. The hot Epsom-salts bath has also proved valuable in psoriasis. Three full baths should be taken weekly until the trouble begins to subside. The number of baths thereafter may be reduced to two weekly and finally to one. The affected areas should also be bathed twice in hot water containing Epsom-salts. After the bath, a little olive oil may be applied. The skin should be kept absolutely clean by daily dry friction or sponge. The affected parts should be frequently exposed to the sun. mud pack may be applied to the affected parts.

Cabbage leaves have been successfully used in the form of compresses in the treatment of psoriasis. The thickest and greenest outer leaves are most effective for use as compresses. They should be thoroughly washed in warm water and dried with a towel. The leaves should be made flat, soft and smooth by rolling them with a rolling pin after removing the thick veins. They should be warmed and then applied smoothly to the affected parts in an overlapping manner. A pad of soft woolen cloth should be put over it. The whole compress should then be secured with a elastic bandage.

Bitter Gourd: Bitter gourd is a valuable remedy for psoriasis. A cup of fresh juice of this vegetable, mixed with a teaspoon of lime juice, should be taken sip by sip, on an empty stomach daily for four to six months.
Avocado Oil: The oil of avocado has been found beneficial in the treatment of this disease. It should be applied gently to the affected parts.

Cashewnut Oil: The oil extracted from the outer shell of the cashewnut is acrid and rubefacient. It can be applied beneficially on the affected area.

Buttermilk: The use of curd in the form of buttermilk has proved useful in psoriasis and the patient should drink it in liberal quantities. The application of buttermilk compresses over the affected parts will also be useful in treating this condition.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E therapy has been found effective in the treatment of psoriasis. The patient should take this vitamin in therapeutic doses of 400 mg a day. It will help reduce itching and scab formation.
Lecithin: Lecithin is also considered a remarkable remedy for psoriasis. The patient may take six to nine lecithin capsules a day-two or three capsules before or after each meal. If taken in the form of granules, four tablespoonfuls may be taken daily for two months. The dosage may be reduced thereafter to two tablespoons.

Dietary ConsiderationsSince psoriasis is a metabolic disease, a cleansing juice fast for a week is always desirable at the beginning of the treatment. Carrots, beets, cucumbers, and grapes may be used for juices. After the juice fast, the patient should adopt a well-balanced diet, consisting of seeds, nuts, grains, vegetables, and fruits. Emphasis should be placed on raw seeds and nuts, especially sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and plenty of organically grown raw vegetables and fruits. All animal fats, including milk, butter, eggs; refined or processed foods; foods containing hydrogenated fats or white sugar; all condiments; and tea and coffee should be avoided. When there is a substantial improvement, goat’s milk, yoghurt, and home-made cottage cheese may be added to the diet. The juice fast may be repeated after a month or so.

Other MeasuresDuring the initial juice fast, a warm-water enema should be used daily to cleanse the bowels. Frequent baths should be avoided. Soap should not be used. Regular sea-water baths and application of sea water externally over the affected parts once a day are beneficial. Hot Epsom salts baths also prove valuable in psoriasis. After an Epsom salts bath, a little olive oil may be applied. The skin should be kept absolutely clean by dry friction or daily sponging.

The patient should undertake plenty of physical and breathing exercises in fresh air. He should avoid all nervous tensions and should have adequate rest.

Resolving conflicts

Resolving conflicts whether in office, in friends community or at home is a challenge. The situation sometimes get worst when nobody shows the flexibility on his/her stance. The below tips might help when you have been assigned (Or you assign it to yourself) to resolve  the conflict.

1-    Be fair regardless of your relation with different parties. Sometimes your closed one can be wrong. Hence make up your mind to be transparent and fair throughout. Judge people fairly.

2-   Empathetic Listening is very important. Listen to all parties carefully. Put yourself in their shoes to understand their stance.

3-   Carefully analyze the statements from each party. List down the pros and cons of the stance from each party. Sometimes both parties are right and sometimes both are wrong. In your analysis you need to find the option which gives maximum benefit to everyone.  Article written by Junaid.Tahir

4-   If the conflict is between two persons, consider a solution which neither party-A has proposed, neither B. Propose third solution which suits both persons. Consider Win-Win scenario where everyone gains something at the cost of compromise.

5-   If you want to give advice to a party (which you think is wrong), give it privately. Don’t do counseling when both are present. This will offend one party and may strain the relations further. Article written by Junaid.Tahir

GARLIC

Garlic

Garlic is a common ingredient in most of the dishes that we prepare.  Do you know that this gives more than just a sumptuous flavour ? Are you familiar with the health benefits of garlic ?   Yes, this is not just another ingredient that will make your dish more aromatic and delicious because it has an important role in making you healthier. In fact, it is even referred to as ‘nature’s penicillin’ or ‘natural wonder drug’ because of all the remedies that it could do. The most important component in garlic that makes it beneficial for health is the sulphur content. Those which are organically grown do not just have a stronger taste but these also have higher amount of sulphur. Hence, it is more beneficial for you health.
Here are some of the most outstanding health benefits of garlic:
:Cure for Common Cold and Flu

Cold, flu and other common illnesses are triggered by virus and bacteria .
The power of garlic can help the body fight these by strengthening the defense of the immune system.
This enables a person to be cured much faster or avoid the illnesses completely.

Helps Out in Digestion :

Garlic enables the lining of the stomach to produce more enzymes.
These enzymes digest food properly so that there will be less that would end up as stored fat.
Better digestion leads to being able to avoid obesity and heart problems.
Directly Improves Circulatory System :

The health benefits of garlic affect the cardiovascular system in many ways.
First of all, it prevents the formation of blockage in the arteries which could hinder proper blood flow.
Second, the arteries would not harden too.
Third, garlic has components which lower bad cholesterol and increase the amount of good cholesterol so that hypertension would not become a problem.
Fights Cancer :

Stomach and colon cancer is easily prevented because of the flavonoids that the garlic bulb contains.
The flavonoids can avoid cancer because it inhibits the absorption of carcinogenic components by the cells.

Anti-bacteria and anti-fungal properties :

This is one of the health benefits of garlic that is really important for every person.
For people who have weak lungs,
garlic can help them prevent contracting lung infections.
In fact, even the Chinese traditionally drink boiled garlic bulb with vinegar daily to avoid lung abscess. During the times when there is a serious flu epidemic that has affected many people,
garlic will also provide you with an effective defense. This also has antibiotic effect against intestinal infections.
For skin problems like athlete’s foot or ringworm, crushing garlic and applying it on skin will solve the trouble.

To be able to enjoy all the benefits of garlic, it is best to simply have it raw. You can prepare it anyway you want : chopped, sliced or crushed. When garlic is not subjected to heat,  it has maximum potency. When garlic is put inside the microwave,  this could kill the essential nutrients in it. If you are taking other meds, make sure to consult your physician to ensure that regular intake of garlic would not contradict the effects of the meds.

HAIR FALL

Research shows that up to two thirds of women experience hair loss at some stage in their life and this can often be a very stressful time for women and is an integral part of their self image.

The most common causes of hair loss in women is not related to inherited genes but usually associated with other factors such as pregnancy, stress, chemotherapy, certain diets, thyroid hormone deficiency, some drugs or infections. Unlike men the hair loss in this case is usually temporary and healthy re-growth can occur over time.

Unlike men, women rarely go bald but may experience significant thinning and reduction of the hair shaft diameter around the forehead and crown of the scalp as they age.

If you are one of the millions of women who suffer from hair loss the most important factor is to understand why you are losing your hair before you seek out a remedy or solution.

Causes of hair loss:
1. Genetics : The most common cause of hair loss is rooted in your genes also known as and rogenetic alopecia, hereditary hair loss can begin any time after puberty, but usually sets in before the age of forty and may accelerate around the time you reach menopause.

2. Pregnancy : A large amount of oestrogen is produced during pregnancy causing the hair follicles to go into their growth phase. Once the birth is over the hormonal balance is restored and the opposite happens with the hair follicles going into a hair loss phase.

3. Alopecia areata : The reasons for this are relatively unknown but research has shown that the cause is thought to be an auto immune disorder where the body mistakenly attacks the hair follicles. What follows is an inflammation of the follicles and surrounding hair structures. This causes the hair follicles to retreat into the deeper layers of skin shutting off an important nutrient supply, the follicles starve and the hair starts shedding followed by a dormant period.

4. Stress : Another common reason for hair loss in women is stress as known as Telogen Effluvium. What happens is that the growing healthy hairs enter the resting (telogen) phase of hair growth. The hairs matrix appears to stop dividing causing the hair to begin falling out. Women in their 40's to 60's will be affected by this kind of hair loss.

5. Drugs or Supplements : The most common drug treatment that causes hair loss is Chemotherapy. This kind of medication attacks the hair cells of the matrix causing 90% hair loss from the scalp. Prescription drugs are also known to thin hair out. These can be Blood thinners, high blood pressure and cholesterol drugs. Some dieting supplements can also be causes of hair loss.

6. Hair pulling : Also known as trichotillomania. Unlike other types or hair loss this is not a medical but more a psychological disorder. There are literally millions of people around the worlds that suffer from this condition. These are mostly adult women that suffer from low self esteem, anxiety, depression or are dissatisfied with their bodies. This condition can be treated with counselling.

Story of appreciation

One young man academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.

He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made the last decision.

The director discovered from the CV that the Young Man's academic achievements were excellent all the way,
from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score good grades.

The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" the Young Man answered "None."

The director asked, " Was it your father who paid for your school fees?"
The Young Man answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees."
The director asked, "Where did your mother work?"
The Young Man answered, "My mother worked as clothes cleaner."
The director requested the Young Man to show his hands. The Young Man showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.

The director asked, " Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?"

The Young Man answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me."

The director said, "I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning."

The Young Man felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid.

The Young Man cleaned his mother's hands slowly.
His tear fell as he did that.
It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water.

This was the first time the Young Man realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future.

After finishing the cleaning of his mother hands, the Young Man quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.

Next morning, the Young Man went to the director's office.

The Director noticed the tears in the Young Man's eyes, asked: "Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?"

The Young Man answered, "I cleaned my mother's hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes."

The Director asked, "Please tell me your feelings."

The Young Man said,
Number 1, I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not be the successful me today.
Number 2, by working together and helping my mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done.
Number 3, I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship.

The director said, "This is what I am looking for to be my manager."

I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of
others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired.

Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company's performance improved tremendously.

A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parent's efforts. When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others. For this kind of people, who may be good academically, may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel sense of achievement. He will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more. If we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying the kid instead?

You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person. The most important thing is your kid learns how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learns the ability to work with others to get things done.

You would have forwarded many mails to many and many of them would have back mailed you too ... but try and forward this story to as many as possible .... this may change somebody's fate...

Habits that Make You a More Positive Person

Habits that Make You a More Positive Person

Always Pamper Yourself, if Possible do it Everyday, Exercise Hard Daily, Embrace Change as Progression, Meditate When Stressed.....We keep hearing about the need to become more positive in life.
Tabloid articles and TV programs continuously emphasize upon adopting a more positive mindset. However, most of these mediums seem to preach more and explain little. Here, we are trying to talk about a more practical approach to becoming a better, more positive person. The best way to do this is to inculcate habits that help to develop a positive mindset. Some recommendations for you include:

Stop Being Judgmental About Others

One of the most vital steps towards remaining happier throughout the day and reducing negativity around you is being less judgmental. We often tend to develop a negative opinion about the people around us. Though we hardly express it, we nurture that negativity inside us. A better approach is to believe in the dictum of everyone being responsible for their own actions. Leave their actions and the consequences of the same to destiny. Don’t bother about others and don’t let their presence irritate you.

Always Pamper Yourself, if Possible do it Everyday

The idea of working like a horse throughout the week and binging on the good stuff on weekends doesn’t make a lot of sense if you are prone to harboring a lot of negativity throughout the week. A better approach would be to pamper and reward yourself for the smallest of achievements, on a daily basis. If you have been able to cut down on your sugar intake for the past three days, give yourself a pat on the back and treat yourself with a cookie. If you have been true to your control-smoking plan, gift yourself a new case for your mobile phone.

Exercise Hard & Exercise Daily

One of these easiest, most effective ways of sustaining your positive aura is to exercise hard. Some folks recommend walking or stretching as good exercises. Though there is nothing wrong with this approach, it would be better if you could exercise harder and work-up some real sweat. Strenuous exercising stimulates your body to release more endorphins. These hormones help to neutralize the action of anxiety and stress-related hormones, helping to keep you in a better frame of mind.

Embrace Change as Progression

Most people find it difficult to change their habits, routines or their way of thinking. Human beings have an inherent fear towards things that are different from the usual. This refers to everything from buying your shirt in a shade that you have never worn before or going out of your way to be pleasant to somebody. You can be a more positive person if you accept that for the better or worse, changes are always going to come your way. Thus, you might as well accept them. Once you develop a higher degree of tolerance for changes, most unpleasant moments in life would sting a lot less.

Meditate When Stressed & When Happy

It has been observed that people are prone to using meditation as a short-term means to relieve stress. Such folks are prone to becoming irregular with meditation or foregoing it when they feel better. A smarter approach to becoming a more positive person is look upon meditation as an essential part of your day. Equate it with the need to bathe daily. This will ensure that you are always able to keep the stress away and sustain the feeling of goodness within you.

Story: The Power of Positive Talk

I remember my dad teaching me the power of language at a very young age. Not only did my dad understand that specific words affect our mental pictures, but he understood words are a powerful programming factor in lifelong success.
One particularly interesting event occurred when I was eight. As a kid, I was always climbing trees, poles, and literally hanging around upside down from the rafters of our lake house. So, it came to no surprise for my dad to find me at the top of a 30-foot tree swinging back and forth. My little eight-year-old brain didn't realize the tree could break or I could get hurt. I just thought it was fun to be up so high.

My older cousin, Tammy, was also in the same tree. She was hanging on the first big limb, about ten feet below me. Tammy's mother also noticed us at the exact time my dad did. About that time a huge gust of wind came over the tree. I could hear the leaves start to rattle and the tree begin to sway. I remember my dad's voice over the wind yell, "Bart, Hold on tightly." So I did. The next thing I know, I heard Tammy screaming at the top of her lungs, laying flat on the ground. She had fallen out of the tree.
I scampered down the tree to safety. My dad later told me why she fell and I did not. Apparently, when Tammy's mother felt the gust of wind, she yelled out, "Tammy, don't fall!" And Tammy did fall. My dad then explained to me that the mind has a very difficult time processing a negative image.

In fact, people who rely on internal pictures cannot see a negative at all. In order for Tammy to process the command of not falling, her nine-year-old brain had to first imagine falling, then try to tell the brain not to do what it just imagined. Whereas, my eight-year-old brain instantly had an internal image of me hanging on tightly.

This concept is especially useful when you are attempting to break a habit or set a goal. You can't visualize not doing something.
The only way to properly visualize not doing something is to actually find a word for what you want to do and visualize that.

For example, when I was thirteen years old, I played for my junior high school football team. I tried so hard to be good, but I just couldn't get it together at that age. I remember hearing the words run through my head as I was running out for a pass, "Don't drop it!" Naturally, I dropped the ball. My coaches were not skilled enough to teach us proper "self-talk." They just thought some kids could catch and others couldn't. I'll never make it pro, but I'm now a pretty good Sunday afternoon football player, because all my internal dialogue is positive and encourages me to win.
I wish my dad had coached me playing football instead of just climbing trees. I might have had a longer football career.
If our parents can set a lifetime of programming with one wrong statement, imagine the kind of programming you are doing on a daily basis with your own internal dialogue.
Here is a list of Toxic Vocabulary words. Notice when you or other people use them.
Ø But: Negates any words that are stated before it.
   Ø Try: Presupposes failure.
Ø If: Presupposes that you may not.
Ø Might: It does nothing definite. It leaves options for your listener..
Ø Would Have: Past tense that draws attention to things that didn't actually happen.
Ø Should Have: Past tense that draws attention to things that didn't actually happen implies guilt
Ø Could Have: Past tense that draws attention to things that didn't actually happen but the person tries to take credit as if it did happen.
Ø Can't/Don't: These words force the listener to focus on exactly the opposite of what you want. This is a classic mistake that parents and coaches make without knowing the damage of this linguistic error.

Example-1:
Toxic phrase: "Don't drop the ball!"
Likely result: Drops the ball
Better language: "Catch the ball!"* *

Example-2:
Toxic phrase: "You shouldn't watch so much television."
Likely result: Watches more television.
Better language: "I read too much television makes people stupid.

The Power Of Not Looking Back

If you carefully observe the people who are in stress, you will notice that they keep thinking about a specific event, conversation, failure, brawl or hard luck again and again which has happened to them in past. Such people do not have control on their thinking process hence they allow their brain to keep wandering in the past. It’s a known fact that bad luck happens to everyone, it’s people's attitude and they way of reaction which defines the degree of stress. As stress and happiness are vice versa so more stress results in less happiness or in some cases loss of happiness.

Always remember that everyone passes through tragic moments in life however you will agree that the more you think about bad things happened in the past, the more quantum of stress you add in your brain.

The chains of negativity and stress around your neck need to be broken and thrown away so as to move on with your life. The fact remains the same that you cannot change the past, neither you can boil the ocean so a wise person would not keep thinking about something which has already happened instead he would learn the lesson from the past and take measures which need to be done in order to prevent such happening in future. A wise man will always focus on the solutions instead of thinking about the problems.

I recommend you to take the pen and list down all the issues from your past on a page. You will, eventually, end up with a very limited number of issues which are bothering your mind and adding depression again and again. Now the next step is to split these issues into two groups. One group for which you do have some solution and the other group should contain the issues which are out of control. The worries and sorrows from the second group should be shun away. You need to train your brain not to think of something which is beyond control. Divert your focus on the issues for which you can do something. Do it now because this time will also become past and you would be cursing these moments for taking action at right time.
